Definition

Providing connectivity and operation of mobile telephone networks for the transmission of voice, data and video signals from mobile devices such as mobile phones, satellite phones, pagers and mobile radios; maintaining and operating pager networks, cellular networks; providing mobile messaging systems and mobile multimedia data transmission systems.

Foreign ownership

Not on the Foreign Business Act restricted lists.

The Foreign Business Act B.E. 2542 (1999) restricts majority foreign ownership only for the activities named in its three annexed Lists. This activity is not among the mappings we hold, so a foreign investor can generally hold up to 100% of the equity, subject to any sector-specific licence and to minimum-capital rules (typically THB 2 million per restricted business, or THB 3 million where a Foreign Business Licence applies).

  • US Treaty of Amity — US nationals may hold majority ownership in most activities, treated as Thai nationals for FBA purposes.
