Definition

Production of active substances with pharmacological properties for use in the production of medicines, antibiotics, vitamins, salicylic acid and o-salicylic acid, etc. Processes related to blood, production of drugs for the treatment and prevention of various diseases such as serum, blood compounds, vaccines, including traditional medicines, production of chemicals used externally for contraception and production of birth control pills containing hormones, production of various medical test kits, including pregnancy test kits, production of radioactive substances used for human testing, production of pharmaceuticals using biotechnology. It also includes the production of chemically pure sugar, production of medical distilled water, substances used in processing the function of various glands, and production of gland extracts, production of medical devices such as cotton, gauze, bandages, wound dressings, and sutures.

Foreign ownership

The Foreign Business Act B.E. 2542 (1999) restricts majority foreign ownership only for the activities named in its three annexed Lists.   • US Treaty of Amity — US nationals may hold majority ownership in most activities, treated as Thai nationals for FBA purposes.
