Definition

Fishing and aquaculture encompass activities related to the harvesting of fish and other aquatic organisms from natural waters as well as the cultivation of aquatic species in controlled environments. Specific activities include commercial fishing, fish farming, and the production of shellfish and crustaceans.

Foreign ownership

The Foreign Business Act B.E. 2542 (1999) restricts majority foreign ownership only for the activities named in its three annexed Lists.   • US Treaty of Amity — US nationals may hold majority ownership in most activities, treated as Thai nationals for FBA purposes.
